James C. Cahanin Scholarship

At LSFA, we believe in empowering the next generation of Louisiana’s fire-service professionals. The James C. Cahanin Scholarship supports full- or part-time college students who live in Louisiana, are members of the LSFA, and demonstrate academic achievement and commitment to the fire service. Each recipient receives $500 per semester toward their educational expenses.

Cahanin Scholarship supports full- or part-time college students who live in Louisiana, are members of the LSFA, and demonstrate academic achievement and commitment to the fire service. Each recipient receives $500 per semester toward their educational expenses.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a resident of Louisiana

  • Must be a member of the Louisiana State Firemen’s Association.

  • Must be carrying a minimum of nine (9) semester hours.

  • Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher.

  • Student receiving a scholarship from another source is not eligible for this award.

  • The student’s institution must provide the student’s name and grade average to the LSFA Secretary.

Award Details:

  • Scholarship amount: $500 per semester

  • Award will be disbursed after the completion of each fall and spring semester.
