Assisting Individuals in Crisis (CISM 1 ON 1)

Thursday, May 12, 2022 8:30 AM - Friday, May 13, 2022 5:00 PM CST

We are all aware that emotional chaos occurs when firefighters deal with critical incidents. The stress that follows goes further than that individual but to his/her peers also. Dr. Bart J. Leger, (retired first responder) is offering a live, online CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) course for you and your peers. This course is registered with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and participants will receive a certificate from ICISF providing CEs from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. These hours will also count for annual training requirements as electives for those who need it.

Assisting Individuals in Crisis is being held online via Zoom Thursday and Friday, May 12-13, 2022, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

This class is one of the core courses of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) that prepare peers and mental health professionals to support one another following critical incidents. This course walks prospective peers and mental health professionals through the various CISM techniques, when and how to use each one, and includes group exercises to practice the skills they’ll need.
